Constipation Remedy for Dogs

Constipation in dogs is uncommon, but when it does happen your dog will be in a lot of discomfort. You can help it improve its digestion by altering its diet and routine. You will have to do the things you are normally told to avoid because they will soften the stool, as this is what will make the dog feel better. You should be patient and allow plenty of time for walks when your dog isn't feeling well.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure your dog is getting daily exercise. Taking it on a long walk for 15 minutes will help improve digestion.

    • 2

Feed it some beans by pouring out a tin of green beans into its feed bowl. You should give it one can a day until you see improvement.

    • 3

Mix some pumpkin puree into your dog's regular dry food. Do this at each mealtime until it is feeling better.

    • 4

Give your dog 6 oz. of milk to drink every day. Stop giving milk as soon as the constipation starts to disappear.

    • 5

Add a spoon of Metamucil to your dog's food each time it eats. Only do this if none of the other treatments help.
