When your dog has a stomach ache, it is important to take it to the veterinarian to assess the situation. The food that the dog consumed over the last few days is most likely the culprit. If you can't get to the vet right away, there are a few home remedies you can try.

Talk with your veterinarian about feeding your dog Pepto Bismol. Use a normal human dosage. The pill form of Pepto Bismol may be easier to administer. Just as in humans, some dogs will not respond to Pepto BIsmol and may respond better to Kaopectate.

Withhold food for a 24-hour period if all of the listed treatments haven't worked. Sometimes the dog needs a system clean-out and a period of rest. Allow the dog to drink a lot of water during that period. When re-introducing food, mix the yogurt into the food.

Make your dog a natural remedy of a peppermint tea tincture. After making the tea, allow it to cool to room temperature and pour it into the dog's water dish.
