Dogs are notorious for eating their way through life. While your dog may see everything as a potential appetizer, there are things he should never eat. On this impressive list of dietary "no no's," is the plant, eucalyptus. Widely used for its medicinal properties, this plant has an entirely different effect on your canine companion.

Even a minute amount of a toxic plant can spell real danger for your canine. Eucalyptus may be hailed for its many benefits, but it should never be consumed by dogs. The effects of eucalyptus ingestion include diarrhea, vomiting, excessive drooling, lethargy and depression. If you suspect your dog has consumed eucalyptus, or he is presenting with any symptoms attributed to consumption of this toxic plant, immediately consult his veterinarian or an animal poison control hotline.
