    • Frontline is used on dogs and cats to kill fleas and ticks. It is applied topically, just between the shoulder blades.

    Ingredients

    • Frontline contains fipronil, a broad spectrum insecticide. The drug was first registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency in May 1996, and has undergone significant testing.

    Effectiveness

    • Frontline kills fleas within 12 hours of and ticks within 48 hours. Frontline is designed to provide protection against fleas and ticks for 30 days. The product is waterproof, so it should not be affected by swimming or grooming.

    Side Effects

    • Frontline is generally well-tolerated among most cats and dogs. Occasionally, pets may develop irritation at the site of application, especially if they are allergic to fipronil.

    Safety

    • Frontline is safe to use on puppies and kittens who are at least 8 weeks old. The product is also safe for breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs and cats. Frontline should not be used on sick pets.

    Other Pets

    • Frontline is not approved for use on other pets. This product should only be used as directed on dogs and cats.
