Dogs may have a layer of fur to protect their skin, but their skin is still susceptible to irritations in much the same way human skin is. Your dog's skin irritation can cause excessive itching that may make it very uncomfortable. You can treat your dog's skin with some home remedies that will provide much-needed relief.
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup oatmeal
- Blender
- 1 tbsp. colloidal silver
- 1 tbsp. baking soda
- 3 tsp. water
- Small bowl
Instructions
Oatmeal Bath
Pour the oatmeal in a blender and blend until you have a powder. Use old-fashioned oatmeal, not the kind found in ready-to-serve packets.
Fill your bath tub with a few inches of luke-warm water. Dog's don't like warm or hot water, so pay attention to the temperature.
Sprinkle the powdered oatmeal into the bath water, and give it a little stir.
Add the colloidal silver. This is optional, but it does help get rid of any fungus or bacteria that may be causing the skin irritation. It is safe to use on dogs.
Bathe your dog in the oatmeal bath.
Baking Soda Paste
Pour the baking soda into a small bowl.
Add water to the bowl, and stir until you have a paste.
Rub the paste over your dog's irritated skin in a thin layer, and allow it to dry on the dog. You can allow the paste to flake off, or you can wipe it off later with a wet washcloth.
