How to Kill Fleas With Bio Spot

Fleas can spread rapidly from your animal to your home. If your dog has a flea problem, consider using a flea-killing product specifically for pets, such as Bio Spot. Bio Spot will kill existing fleas and flea eggs, as well as help prevent future infestations. However, do not use this product on your dog if she is pregnant or nursing. Before medicating a dog with a health condition, consult with his vet. Never use Bio Spot on puppies under 6 months of age.

Things You'll Need

  • Bio Spot applicator

Instructions

    • 1

Select the appropriate product for your dog's weight range. This product is available in four different weight ranges, such as 15 lbs. and under or over 60 lbs., as well as weight ranges in between. Read the label on each product carefully to find the appropriate product for your pet.

    • 2

Remove the tip of the applicator, snapping it away from your face.

    • 3

Hold the applicator in the place indicated by the product label. Application sites for Bio Spot will vary, depending on the weight class of your dog. For example, some products are indicated for the back of the dog's neck, or for the base of the tail. If you select the product for dogs under 15 lbs., apply half of the medication to the back of the neck and half to the hindquarters.

    • 4

Apply the medication in the appropriate spot by holding the tip underneath your dog's fur, close to his skin. Squeeze the applicator to empty the medication. Discard the applicator and wash your hands well.

    • 5

Apply Bio Spot every four weeks for continuous flea protection.

    • 6

Monitor your pet for signs of an adverse reaction to the medication. For example, the application site may develop redness. Your dog may also scratch the site frequently. If this occurs, discontinue applications and take your dog to his vet.
