How to Give Baby Aspirin to a Dog

When your dog becomes ill, you do whatever you can to help your furry friend feel better, including giving him medications. Veterinarians sometimes prescribe baby aspirin for dogs who need pain relief for arthritis, after surgery or because of accidents. Pharmaceutical companies produce drugs with few side effects for dogs, but pet owners can also use baby aspirin in place of expensive medications. Flavor does not matter, but you should administer 5 to 10 milligrams per pound of your dog's weight every 12 hours. Talk with your vet about the correct dosage of baby aspirin the next time your dog requires medicinal intervention.
