Pumpkin is high in fiber and water and can be used for dogs suffering from lower digestive problems, such as constipation or diarrhea. If a dog is constipated, pumpkin will loosen the stools. If the dog has diarrhea, pumpkin helps firm up the stools. Most dogs won’t need much coaxing to eat this, but even if yours won’t eat it plain, you can still feed pumpkin to your dog.

- Canned pureed pumpkin

Instructions
Open a can of plain, pureed pumpkin (just 100 percent pumpkin, with no spices added).
At grocery stores, canned pumpkin is usually found on the canned vegetable aisle or the bakery aisle--just make sure you are getting plain pumpkin that doesn’t have the pie spices added to it.
Scoop out 2 tsp. and put it on a saucer. Show it to your dog--some will eat it right away. If your dog doesn’t seem interested in it, you’ll have to mix it with food.
Open a can of dog food. Scoop out 2 tsp. and mix it with the pumpkin on the saucer and feed this to your dog. Put the rest of the pumpkin remaining in the can in another container and place it in the refrigerator.
Wait for a few hours, if you are feeding this due to dog constipation or diarrhea, to see if it helps. If the dog still has diarrhea or constipation hours later, feed it to the dog again.
