Homeopathic Cures for Mange

Mange is a skin disease that can affect both cats and dogs. It can cause hair loss, scabs and constant discomfort for your pet. If an animal with mange is taken to the veterinarian, the vet will perform skin scraping and tests and prescribe a medication. The tests and medicines are expensive. Homeopathic cures can be used to treat mange without costing you a fortune.

  1. Proper Diet

    • A healthy diet is recommended to help relieve an animal's mange. Dogs and cats with mange should be fed all-natural food. Certain supplements can be added to a pet's diet to help with the uncomfortable skin condition. Five milligrams vitamin E, 10 milligrams vitamin C and 1/4 teaspoon of fish oil should be added to the pet's daily diet to stop itchiness.

    Hydrogen Peroxide and Borax

    • A mixture of 1 quart hydrogen peroxide and 4 teaspoons borax powder can help kill the parasites that cause mange. The homemade solution can be poured onto the affected areas of the pet's skin to help treat mange. This method can be repeated once a day until all signs of mange disappear.

    Garlic Oil

    • A few drops of garlic oil can be applied to a pet's coat for mange treatment. Garlic, which is naturally antibacterial, can be used to treat any existing bacterial infections that have occurred as a result of mange. Mites, who often cause mange, do not like garlic and will leave once garlic oil is applied.

    Neem, Lavender and Almond

    • Neem oil, lavender oil and almond oil are three ingredients that can be used to treat mange. Oil is a great homeopathic treatment, because it drowns parasites living in a pet's coat. Pet owners should mix together 1/2 teaspoon neem oil, 1/2 teaspoon lavender oil, and 5 teaspoons almond oil. The oil mixture can be applied to a pet's coat once or twice a day.
