Oatmeal Bath
-
The Healthy Pet Journal Website recommends using oatmeal to cure your dogs itch. Oatmeal is often used on humans with skin conditions such as eczema. The oils and properties within this food help to relieve dry itchy skin. You simply groom your dog with a brush to get rid of excess hair. Then add 2 cups of oatmeal to a warm bath.
Scrub your dog down with the oatmeal, allowing it to sink in. After your dog has soaked in oatmeal for a few minutes, follow up with conditioner and simply rinse him clean. Repeat this every week and avoid using shampoo as this can cause dryness, which only makes itching worse. If your dog is prone to dry itchy skin, buy a moisturizing shampoo.
