Tug-O-War
-
Tug-o-war is a simple game many dogs enjoy. A thick rope toy or durable chew toy is ideal for this game. Allow your dog to grab one end of the object with his or her mouth. Begin tugging gently. Be prepared for your dog to let go briefly and try to establish a better hold on the toy. A blind dog may not realize where the toy is and bit your hand accidentally.
Fetch with, a twist
-
Blind dogs can still fetch, but it's best to play in an area without objects that the dog can run into. If indoors, clear a space the room void of large objects. Throw a ball with a bell in it so that your dog can hear where the ball goes. Make sure to throw the ball in the area without obstructions. Praise your dog when he or she finds the ball. This will also help your dog figure out where to bring the ball after retrieving it.
Hide and seek
-
Hide in your home somewhere and call your dog to find you. Reward your dog with a treat when the come. This is a great way for your dog to better learn the layout of your home and fine-tune their sense of sound.
Find the treat
-
Place three plastic cups upside down. Put a dog treat under one of the cups. Let your dog sniff until he knocks over a cup and finds the treat.
