How to Apply Revolution

Revolution is a medication manufactured by Pfeizer. It contains the active ingredient selamectin, which kills fleas, prevents heartworm and treats and controls ear mites in dogs and cats. The dog formula also treats and controls sarcoptic mange and controls the American dog tick. The cat formula also treats and controls roundworms and hookworms. Revolution needs to be applied correctly, otherwise you run the risk of reducing the medication's effectiveness.

Make sure you have the correct dosage of Revolution for your pet and are using the correct formula--use Revolution for Dogs only on dogs and Revolution for Cats only on cats. A dog 5 lbs. and under should receive a 15 mg. tube; from 5.1 to 10 lbs., a 30 mg. tube; from 10.1 to 20 lbs., a 60 mg. tube; from 20.1 to 40 lbs., a 120 mg. tube; and from 40.1 to 85 lbs., a 240 mg. tube. Position your pet in front of you and part the hair at the base of the neck just above the shoulder blades. Make sure the skin is visible.

    • 4

Squeeze the tube gently onto the exposed skin. Empty the entire contents of the tube.
