      The weight of your dog determines the dose of Advantage Multi for Dogs. Dogs weighing 3 to 9 pounds should use Advantage Multi 9. Dogs weighing 9.1 to 20 pounds should use Advantage Multi 20. Dogs weighing 20.1 to 55 pounds should use Advantage Multi 55. Dogs weighing 55.1 to 88 pounds should use Advantage Multi 88. Dogs over 88 pounds should be treated with the appropriate combination of Advantage Multi for Dogs tubes.

      Mark the date on the calendar. Advantage Multi application is applied monthly, and proper use of the product each month ensures its effectiveness. Many people choose to apply the product on the first day of the month. The package of Advantage Multi contains stickers that can be used to mark a calendar.

      Remove one applicator tube from the package and remove the cap. You will notice that the top of the cap has a sharp point. Turn the cap around and use the sharp point to puncture the seal over the tip of the tube. Remove the cap.

      Position the dog in a standing position and part the hair at the shoulder blades. The skin needs to be exposed. For dogs under 20 pounds, apply the entire contents of the tube in the one exposed spot. For dogs 20.1 pounds and over, put a small portion of the tube contents on the spot between the shoulder blades. Then part the hair a little farther down the dog's spine, approaching the tail. Apply another portion of the tube's contents in this spot. Continue to do this until the entire contents of the tube is emptied, approaching the tail of the dog with each application.

      Avoid washing the dog for 90 minutes after application for maximum effectiveness in preventing heartworm infections. Avoid washing the dog for four days for maximum effectiveness in preventing fleas. Weekly washing will render Advantage Multi less effective in preventing fleas.
