Diarrhea in puppies can be a simple passing ailment, or it can indicate something more serious is wrong with your pup. Diarrhea may result from your puppy eating something inappropriate, or from a stomach or intestinal infection, or from a change in the puppy's dog food. Thankfully, you can help treat your pup's ailment using pumpkin, which can help harden feces and get the puppy feeling better.

Instructions
Make sure the canned pumpkin you will use is all-natural organic pumpkin, without any spices or additives. Spices and additives can further upset your puppy's stomach and cause diarrhea to worsen.
Decide how much pumpkin you will need to use, based on your puppy's size. Because most puppies are relatively small, you will probably want to give your puppy just a teaspoon or two. If your puppy is 50 pounds or more, you will want to do a tablespoon.
Mix the needed amount of pumpkin with a little warm water--perhaps one-quarter of a cup--and your pup's regular food. Puppies typically won't eat pumpkin alone, which is why you need to mask the pumpkin in your puppy's normal meal.
Feed your puppy pumpkin once a day for four or five days and watch to see whether the stools begin appearing more normal. If by the end of a week's time your dog is still suffering from liquid stools, seek your veterinarian's help, as your dog may have a more serious condition.
