How to Kill Fleas on a Pregnant Dog Homeopathically

When it comes to dogs, fleas are the most common pest. If your dog is infested with fleas, you will notice your dog scratching incessantly. Most pet owners get rid of the fleas with a prescription flea medication, such as Advantage or Frontline. Unfortunately, pregnant dogs can't use this type of medication because of the chemicals that are used. You can treat your dog at home utilizing an all-natural approach.

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • 10 drops tea-tree oil
  • 2 tsp. liquid dish soap
  • Vinegar

Instructions

    • 1

Fill your bathtub 1-inch high with lukewarm water. You can make the water higher if you have a larger dog.

    • 2

Add tea-tree oil to the bath water. Tea-tree oil is an all natural insecticide. It is safe to use on pregnant pets and humans.

    • 3

Mix the water in the tub with your liquid dish soap and lather up your pregnant dog. Just be careful you don't get any soap in her eyes.

    • 4

Keep your dog soapy for a total of 5 minutes. This will kill all of the fleas that are on your dog.

    • 5

Drain the dirty water and rinse your pregnant dog off with fresh, clean water.

    • 6

Place 1 qt. of cold water in your pregnant dog's drinking bowl, and add 1 tsp. of vinegar to it. This will help prevent your dog from getting fleas again in the future.
