Droncit is a popular medication used to eliminate tapeworm infection in both dogs and cats. Tapeworms are usually contracted upon ingestion of fleas or rodents. Many owners do not know their pets have tapeworms until they see the parasite's segments appear on the animal's body or around the home. Tapeworm segments resemble flat pieces of rice that may or may not be moving. The segments are typically found around the animal's anus or bedding. Fortunately, most pet owners should be able to administer Droncit pills for tapeworm infection.

Instructions
Place the dog or cat on an elevated non-slippery surface, if possible. Taking an animal off of the floor typically makes it feel less confident, decreasing its chances of running away.
Stand in front of the pet so that you are facing each other. Place the Droncit tablet in between the pointer finger and thumb of your dominant hand.
Grab the bones that are on the side of your pet's face with your less-dominant hand, if it is a cat, and gently tip the head back. If you have a dog, place your less-dominant hand on your dog's top jaw and apply upward pressure.
Place your dominant hand on the pet's lower jaw, applying downward pressure to open the mouth. With cats, you may be able to open the jaw just by using your middle finger.
Place the pill as far back in the animal's mouth as it will go. Quickly shut the jaw. Blow a quick puff of air on the animal's nose and rub its throat to encourage it to swallow. After a few moments, check to make sure the animal has swallowed the pill.
Hide the Droncit in food or special treats if you are not able to give the medication directly. Typically, dogs will take pills hidden in peanut butter, liverwurst, hot dogs, soft cheeses, lunch meat and bread. Cats may take pills hidden in cream cheese, sour cream, butter or in treats that are designed to hide pills.
