Parvo, or the canine parvovirus, is a serious, highly contagions infection. It can make adult dogs seriously ill, and if left untreated, it is often fatal to puppies and to adolescent dogs. A lack of energy and a lack of appetite are two symptoms associated with the beginning stages of parvo, but make sure you are aware of the symptoms of advanced parvo as well. If you see the signs of parvo in your dog or puppy, take it to the veterinarian for treatment immediately.

Vomiting

Because parvo causes intestinal problems, you dog will vomit. Vomiting is never normal for dogs and leads to other issues, including pain and discomfort. A dog dying from parvo will be unable to keep down food, or even liquids.
Discolored Stool

Dogs with progressed parvo suffer from diarrhea and their loose stool will have a foul odor. When the dog falls ill, it's stool takes on a greenish or yellowish color. As the illness progresses and moves into a fatal stage, the stool darkens as the dog passes more blood.
Dehydration

A dog with parvo that vomits and has diarrhea also will suffer from dehydration. According to Vetinfo.com, dehydration is one of the leading causes of death related to the parvovirus in dogs. Unless the situation is rectified, the dog will die.
