Cushing's disease is a condition found in older dogs where the pituitary gland is instructing the body to produce high levels of corticosteroids. Cushing's disease symptoms are hair loss with patches of skin exposed, extreme thirst, constant hunger and sweating. The symptoms may be similar to other thyroid problems and should be properly diagnosed through blood tests. Homeopathic remedies may help regulate hormone levels and reduce Cushing's symptoms, but they are not substantiated by medical studies and dogs being treated with them should be monitored for health changes while on a homeopathic regime.

Homepathic Pituitary
-
Homeopathic Pituitary is a homeopathic substance derived from the posterior lobe of a healthy pituitary gland. An imbalance in the pituitary gland characterized by Cushing's disease results in hormone production that is too high. Swing the hormone production too far in the other direction and the dog develops Addison's disease with muscle weakness, depression and dehydration being common symptoms. Homeopathic Pituitary is prescribed in low doses and closely monitored through regular blood work to make sure your dog's Cushing's symptoms are being controlled, and that he is not being overmedicated.
Homeopathic Formic Acid
-
Homeopathic Formic Acid has shown best results when used in the early stages of Cushing's disease. It helps restore your dog's coat, regrowing hair in bald spots and giving the rest of the coat a healthier shine. Give your dog Homeopathic Formic Acid over the course of two months with a potency of 6x, the dilution of the tincture bought at your homeopathic store. All homeopathic tinctures are labeled based on how diluted the solution is, in this case six times original strength (diluted to one-sixth the potency of a pure application). Test your dog's blood one month into using Homeopathic Formic Acid and again at the end of the two months to make sure the treatment is effective and appropriate.
Herbal Treatments
-
There are several herbal remedies that can be given to your dog to effectively help balance body hormone production. These include kelp, nettle, rose hips, wormwood, garlic, clover and apple cider vinegar. While you can use a dried or fresh additive in your dog's meals, it is recommended that these Alternative Pet Health substances be administered using tinctures of the herbs, and that you continue to monitor your dog's symptoms and have her blood corticosteroid levels checked.
Thyroid 30c
-
Corticotrophin (A.C.T.H.) 30c is a tincture that helps regulate the thyroid gland. You may find that your dog has developed thyroid problems with weight loss. Giving Thyroid 30c over the course of three weeks has helped to level thyroid hormone production back to normal. This is not a medicine to directly deal with Cushing's disease but is one that helps properly diagnose the disease and reduce symptoms.
