Difference Between Frontline & Advantix

Frontline and Advantix are used by pet owners to prevent infestation by fleas and ticks. These pet products have different active ingredients. There are minor differences in how they act against pests.

  1. Frontline Ingredients

    • Frontline's active ingredients are fipronil and S-methoprene.

    Advantix Ingredients

    • The ingredients in Advantix are imidacloprid and permethrin.

    Frontline Action

    • Frontline kills all stages of ticks, including the deer tick that spreads Lyme disease, within 48 hours of application. It also kills all stages of fleas--eggs, larvae and adult fleas--within 18 hours of application.

    How Frontline Is Used

    • Frontline is used on dogs over 8 weeks of age. It is applied by placing the application tip on the skin between the shoulder blades and is used once a month.

    Advantix Action

    • Advantix both repels and kills fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. It kills fleas within 12 hours of application. It stops ticks from attaching to the dog as well.

    How Advantix Is Used

    • Advantix is used in dogs over 7 weeks of age. It is used once a month and is applied to the skin between the shoulder blades.
