If you love flowers and canines, you want to ensure that the former aren't toxic to the latter. Geraniums fall into a gray zone for canine plant toxicity. Although some canines can suffer ill effects if consuming or coming into contact with a geranium, it's unlikely to cause permanent damage or seriously harm a dog. If your dog eats a geranium, don't panic, but call your veterinarian for advice.

Geraniums and Canines
-
If your dog eats a geranium, he might experience vomiting or appetite loss. He could appear depressed and lethargic. He doesn't have to ingest the geranium for a problem to arise -- some dogs coming into contact with the plant could exhibit skin issues because of sensitivity to the plant's properties. Since puppies are more sensitive to any potential toxins in the geranium and are more likely to chew on one than an adult dog, keep geraniums out of reach of tiny teeth.
