Pugs are loyal, entertaining, loving dogs who will give you many years of joy and companionship. Their wrinkled faces are one of the features that make them hard to resist. However, those cute little wrinkles may breed bacteria that can cause facial pimples, or dog acne. Fortunately, with proper treatment, the condition will not permanently scar your pug̵7;s adorable face.
Things You'll Need
- 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide shampoo
- Washcloth
Instructions
Take your pug to a veterinarian. Confirm that the acne is not a symptom of mange, food allergies or a parasite infection.
Apply a hot compress to the acne. Run the washcloth under hot, not scalding, water, and wring it out. Press the compress on the affected area for five minutes to help open up the plugged glands that are causing the outbreak. Do this once a day.
Wash your pug̵7;s face. Run the washcloth under warm water, and wring it out. Pour a quarter-sized amount of benzoyl peroxide shampoo on the cloth, and gently rub it on the acne.
Rinse your pug's face thoroughly, and blot dry. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 three times a week.
