How to Use a Comet Elizabethan Collar

Elizabethan collars are a veterinary tool used to keep pets from harming incisions, stitches and broken skin after a visit to the vet. These collars attach around the neck of your pet and stand out, much like the ruff on an Elizabethan outfit. They are made of flexible plastic and are meant to be worn for the duration of the healing period. Comet Elizabethan collars require no additional fasteners and are secure, making them an easy and durable solution for the pet-healing process.

Instructions

    • 1

Clear a flat, open surface to work with your pet. A high table or open patch of floor works well. Lay the Elizabethan collar and the pet's collar within easy reach.

    • 2

Wrap the narrow end of the Elizabethan collar around your pet's neck. The collar should not be too tight, but it should not slide off over their head.

    • 3

Insert the pointed tabs on the side of the collar into the corresponding precut slots on the other side.

    • 4

Weave the pet's collar through the tabs on the narrow end of the collar at your pet's neck. This will provide added stability to your collar.
