Maltese dogs are susceptible to both tooth decay and gum disease, so it's vitally important that you brush your Maltese's teeth once a day, especially if your Maltese is an older dog. While it's important to start when your dog is just a puppy, it's never too late to improve her dental and overall health. Brushing your dog's teeth is a lot easier than you think, and it should only take a few minutes out of your day.
Things You'll Need
- Toothpaste made for dogs
- Dog finger toothbrush or soft bristled toothbrush
Instructions
Put your dog on your lap or sit next to her.
Rub your finger across your dog's teeth, making sure that you rub all of them. Try to do this for two minutes a day.
Use a finger dog toothbrush to rub across your dog's teeth. This brush fits over your finger, so your dog should be acclimated to the feeling.
Add a dog toothpaste after a week of gradual cleanings.
