There are several reasons why your dog may be experiencing watery eyes. Common causes are excessive production of tears, tear drainage obstruction, or pain due to glaucoma, conjunctivitis, eyelid defects or corneal ulcers.

If your cat has runny eyes, it may be a sign of an allergic reaction. Hair loss may also be present as a result of an allergy. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, "Allergic dogs may also suffer from secondary bacterial or yeast skin infections, which may cause hair loss, scabs or crusts on the skin."
