When it comes to your pets, you typically want nothing but the best for them. Treating any sort of infection or issue your dog may have is not always a difficult task. Red yeast, which commonly grows in the corner of dog's eyes, is caused by the buildup of bacteria and moisture from excessive tearing. To help your dog get rid of the red yeast, all you need to do is follow a few simple steps after consulting your pet's physician.
Things You'll Need
- Tetracycline pills
- Visine
- Cotton swabs
- Petroleum jelly
Instructions
Give your dog a dose of tetracycline for the period of time recommended by your pet's veterinarian. Most vets will write out a 2 week prescription and tell you to give your dog one pill per day for 14 days.
Gently clean the area around your dog's eyes using a few drops of Visine on a cotton swab. Visine is a solution meant to clean and clear the eyes, and it can be used on dogs as well as humans. It will dry out the area, killing bacteria, and will also help eliminate the red yeast stains.
Dab some petroleum jelly on the freshly cleaned areas around your dog's eyes.
