Instructions
Follow your veterinarian's instructions for administering Feldene to your dog. Pay attention to the timing of the medication. Feldene may not be given every day. Instead, you may need to give it every other day. Marking the dosage on a calendar or using a plastic pill case marked with the days of the week may help you keep track of when to give the medication.
Give the medication with food, if instructed to do so by your veterinarian. Feldene can be irritating to the stomach and food can lessen this effect. Your vet may also prescribe medications to guard against stomach irritation.
Watch for signs of side effects, such as vomiting or dark, tarry stools, which could indicate stomach irritation or the development of an ulcer. Contact your vet immediately if you notice any of these symptoms.
Take your dog in for regular follow-up appointments. Your vet may prescribe regular blood tests while your dog is on Feldene, to check for damage to the liver or kidneys, a potential side effect of taking this drug.
