Dogs are notorious for eating things they shouldn't. Because of this, they frequently have upset stomachs and diarrhea. In many instances, a bout of diarrhea can be treated at home, and it will resolve without veterinary care. However, if your dog is exhibiting additional symptoms -- such as explosive diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite, or straining when trying to defecate -- don't attempt home treatment. Take your pet to the veterinarian immediately. Otherwise, attempt a 24-hour fast to give your pet's system a break and help your dog recover from diarrhea naturally.
