Dermatitis is a common skin irritation that dogs can get. There are many different types of dermatitis, including nutritional, atopic, parasitic and neurogenic. The solution for your pet's dermatitis depends on which variation it is. Homeopathic treatments are available for atopic dermatitis and can be very effective without the harmful side effects that conventional medications can cause.

Bathing
-
Perhaps the easiest remedy for dermatitis is giving your dog a bath with a calming cleanser or rinse. Bathe her in collodial oatmeal using cool water to calm her itchy, irritated skin. If her feet are bothering her, try soaking them in cool water and Epsom salts. Be sure to completely rinse the liquid off of her skin to avoid further irritation.
A Calming Spray
-
For a calming spray, add two teaspoons of oatmeal, one teaspoon each of chamomile and calendula flowers, and one bag of tea to one and a half cups of boiling water. Let the ingredients steep in the water until it completely cools. Strain the liquid and pour it into a spray bottle to use on dermatitis or hot spots. You can also combine one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with ten milliliters of collodial silver and 20 drops of calendula tincture. Pour this mixture into a one-liter spray bottle and fill with distilled water. Spray this up to three times a day on irritated skin.
Herbs
-
There are also many different herbs that you can give your pet to help with dermatitis. Marigold, witch hazel and graphites can help to reduce swelling, soothe irritation and promote healthy skin. Additionally, German chamomile can be used to help reduce inflammation, and cleavers can help to remove toxins from the body, which can help dermatitis.
All-Natural Diet
-
Be sure to feed your pet an all-natural, organic diet that is free of any artificial flavors or preservatives. Omega-3 fatty acids are also a natural way to reduce inflammation and produce a healthy coat.
