Parasites are a common complaint when you are a dog owner, but they do not have to be. There are many ways you can keep your dog happy, healthy and worm-free without even leaving the house. Check your cabinets and your refrigerator for some common home remedies for worming your dog.

Diet

Fast your dog for 24 hours--if your dog is healthy--to help rid him of a parasite infestation. After the fast, feed him roughage in the form of grated carrots, beets or turnips. The fast will help loosen the worms and the roughage will help pass them out. Additionally, switch your dog to a healthier diet. Healthy dogs are less susceptible to parasites. Feed your dog a food high in protein and with no additives or fillers (such as corn). You can also cook for your dog or switch him to a raw diet of meat, bones and vegetables. These diets have been shown to support a healthy immune system in dogs.
Supplements
-
Add garlic to your dog's diet. Feed her raw, pressed garlic daily. Use a good-sized clove for a large dog, less for a smaller dog. Do not over-do the garlic as it may cause anemia in dogs. Pumpkin seeds, raw and ground up, are effective in fighting tapeworms. Feed up to a teaspoon for large dogs, a quarter of a teaspoon for toy dogs. Wheat germ oil, vitamin A supplements and vegetable enzymes such as the ones found in papaya and figs are also remedies for worming your dog.
Tincture
-
Consult a homeopathic veterinarian about the combination of black walnut hull, wormwood and cloves in ridding your dog of worms. The combination of these three elements is a complete remedy for worming your dog. You probably have cloves in your cabinet, and you can find the extract of the still green black walnut hull as well as wormwood extract at a natural food store.
