Fleas can be frustrating for pet owners and irritating for dogs and cats. Frontline makes both spray medication and liquid flea medication for dogs and cats. Using both types of Frontline makes sense because both kill fleas and ticks on your animal right away, and protect them against fleas and ticks for an entire month.
Things You'll Need
- Frontline liquid medication or spray medication
Instructions
Spray Medication
Put on protective gloves and place your pet in a secure room.
Ruffle your pet's hair with one hand and hold its collar with the other hand. Mess up the fur on your pet's entire body.
Use Frontline spray to soak your pet's fur on their back, stomach, legs, tail and neck. Spray until its fur is damp to the touch.
Spray your gloved hand with Frontline spray. Use that wet hand to dampen your dog's face, ears and upper neck. Do not let Frontline Spray get into its mouth, eyes or nose.
Let your pet air dry.
Comb through your pet's coat once it is dry.
Liquid Medication
Weigh your cat or dog and purchase a box of Frontline liquid flea and tick medicine that corresponds with the type of animal you have and the weight of that animal.
Open the box and remove the small plastic containers. Take one small plastic container and remove it from the others.
Check the box to see if you have purchased Frontline with applicators that require you to snap off or cut off the end. Snap off the snap-off ends by grasping the tip of the lid and turning until it snaps off. Cut off the cut-off ends with a scissor along the dotted line.
Ask a friend to hold your pet securely in front of you.
Part your pet's fur at the base of the back of its neck, between its shoulder blades.
Squeeze one half of the liquid out of the container onto your pet's skin.
Part your pet's fur along its spine in a line from between its shoulder blades to halfway down its back.
Squeeze the remainder of the liquid from the container down this line.
Smooth your animal's fur.
Throw away the used container and store remaining containers of medicine for use the next month.
Wash your hands with soap and water.
