How to Make Your Own Flea Spray

Fleas are tiny insects that have mouth parts made for piercing skin and sucking up blood. They are commonly found on cats and dogs. If they are left untreated on a pet, they can quickly multiply and begin biting humans. If you are not keen on using chemicals to repel the fleas, you can make your own flea spray at home.

Things You'll Need

  • Empty spray bottle
  • Peels from 2 oranges
  • Peels from 2 grapefruits
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp. of rosemary
  • 1 pint of water
  • Blender
  • Strainer
  • Pot

Instructions

    • 1

Place the orange peels, grapefruit peels, rosemary, garlic cloves and water in a blender. Blend using the puree setting.

    • 2

Pour the contents of the blender in a pot and set it on the stove.

    • 3

Simmer the ingredients for 15 minutes. You should give it a stir every few minutes while you are cooking it.

    • 4

Allow the mixture to cool off and then strain it with a strainer. You only want to keep the liquid.

    • 5

Pour the liquid in an empty spray bottle. Spray your pet, furniture or carpets with this spray to keep the fleas away.
