Mange is an unsightly disease of the skin, which is common among household pets. Caused by mites that burrow in the dog's skin, mange can force your dog or cat to have an uncomfortable itch. A home-based remedy for mange can help. The remedy includes a solution of hydrogen peroxide and the chemical compound Borax.

Ingredients
-
Ingredients for the home remedy for your pet's mange includes two bottles of hydrogen peroxide and the chemical compound Borax, all of which should be available at any department store or supermarket. Borax is also known as sodium borate and is a white powder that looks like laundry detergent (and is typically found in the aisle with the laundry detergent). Borax is more expensive than hydrogen peroxide, but this cure will be less expensive than having your pet treated at the veterinarian. Both ingredients should cost less than $10 combined.
Solution
-
To mix the solution, you will need a gallon jug that has been emptied and cleaned. An orange juice or milk gallon jug will work perfectly. To mix the solution, add 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide with 1/2 cup of Borax. Shake well to ensure the mix is thoroughly combined. Depending on the size of your pet, this solution should last for one to two weeks of treatment.
Application
-
The first time you use the solution, thoroughly coat your pet's affected area. It is critical that you do not rinse the solution off of your pet, but leave it on so that it will be able to work effectively. Reapply the solution every two to four days until your pet's mange has disappeared.
