Coprophagia, also known as "stool eating," is a habit many dogs pick up when they sense something edible in the stool of another dog or animal. Often, a dog will eat a stool because it is getting poor quality dog food. Take steps to stop your dog from eating poop because the amount of bacteria and viruses that can be present in the stool is unhealthy for the pet.
Instructions
Learn to decipher food labels to ensure that you are feeding your pet a quality dog food, which will break down properly before defecation. Those that do not break down properly leave the dog's stool smelling and tasting much like dog food.
Sprinkle a small amount of meat tenderizer on top of your dog's food to help with digestion. Think of it as adding salt to a dish.
Add a commercial product such as FOR-BID to your dog's food. This product creates a bad odor and taste in the dog's stool, so your dog will be more inclined to break the habit of eating poop.
