Schools for Canine Massage Therapy

Animals enjoy many of the same benefits from massage as humans. Using proper massage techniques on a dog can help to relieve tension and soreness, prevent or help with the recovery of injuries, improve circulation and maintain and improve flexibility. There are many schools that offer a certificate program in canine massage therapy.

  1. Boulder College of Massage Therapy

    • The Boulder College of Massage Therapy is in Boulder, Colorado. It offers a beginning canine massage course that is open to the public. This is a one-day course. The school also offers a Canine Massage Certification program. This is a 100-hour program for individuals that are currently bodyworkers. This course covers massage of athletic, rehabilitating and older dogs.

    Northwest School of Animal Massage

    • The Northwest School of Animal Massage is in the state of Washington but does offer courses in other parts of the country. It also offers some courses through distance education. Northwest offers three certificate levels: 1-Maintenance massage, 2-Performance massage, and 3-Rehabilitation massage. It also offers one-day seminars on various topics.

    Equissage

    • Equissage is in Round Hill, Virginia. In addition to equine massage courses, it also offers a Canine Massage Therapist certificate program. This program is completed in one week on the campus.

    Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage

    • The Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage offers an Animal Massage Therapist certificate. This program has three levels. Students also can also study and become certified in acupressure. This school has locations in Colorado and Florida.
