Frontline Plus is a green, spot-on medication for fleas and ticks with a series of applications. It has an added ingredient that kills flea eggs and flea larvae, making it stronger and more effective than original Frontline. The medicine available in four different dosing sizes for dogs, and one size for cats. Choose the correct dosage based on your pet's size to ensure that the animal's health is not harmed.

The Series
-
Frontline Plus should be applied once every 30 days. The medication expires after those 30 days, so to keep fleas and ticks off of your pet, it's smart to continue applying Frontline Plus, even in the cool months when ticks are scarce, to continually protect your pet. Frontline Plus comes in packs of three or six, depending on dog's size. Your veterinarian may also have insight as to how often you should apply the product, so contact the vet before starting any Frontline regimen.
Preparation
-
The green applicator comes in a child-proof plastic package. Snap the perforated tip, making sure to snap away from your body, or any others standing around, to avoid getting any medicine that might escape when you snap open the applicator on your clothes.
Application
-
Remove the dog's collar to avoid rubbing or misapplication. Choose a spot between the animal's shoulder blades and make sure the dog does not move during application. Stick the tip of the applicator down near the dog's skin, under the hair, and squeeze the medication onto the spot. After application, do not pet the animal on the spot where Frontline Plus has been applied. Use all of the medicine in the applicator.
Post-Application
-
Do not let your dog go swimming and do not bathe your pet for at least a day after application. This will allow the medication to dry and ensures it will not rinse off immediately. Frontline Plus comes with sticker reminders, so that once you've applied, you'll know when 30 days have passed and it's time to re-medicate your dog.
Function
-
When Frontline is applied, it spreads into the glands of the dog's skin. The glands then secrete Frontline back into growing hair, protecting the dog's entire body until the medication expires and making it resistant to water.
Killing Fleas and Ticks
-
Fleas die within 24 hours and ticks die within 48 hours of application, and the medication works when the bugs come in contact with the fur; they don't have to bite the animal. Frontline is also a preventative measure. It is smart to comb or brush your dog about 48 hours after application to remove flea and tick bodies.
