Coughing
-
Torbutrol is often used for treatment of kennel cough or any chronic dry coughs in dogs.
Function
-
Dogs that chronically cough need a break from coughing for the body to heal. Torbutrol can give the dog's body that needed break.
Sedative
-
Injectable Torbutrol is used as a painkiller and also makes a dog drowsy. Dr. Dawn Ruben notes that Torbutrol does not work as long as other painkillers such as morphine.
Warning
-
Torbutrol should not be given to pregnant dogs, dogs with head injuries or problems of the nervous system. Do not give the human formulation, Stadol, because it is too powerful for a dog.
