How to Make Homemade Dog Wormer

If you are a dog owner, then you are probably concerned about your dog getting worms. Because worms such as heart worms can be deadly, making sure your dog doesn't get worms is critical. Unfortunately, many of the chemical remedies provided by your veterinarian are also not good for your dog--in fact, they're poisons. Here is how to make one type of homemade dog wormer.

Things You'll Need

  • A pumpkin
  • A knife
  • Small electric coffee grinder
  • A teaspoon

Instructions

    • 1

      Purchase a pumpkin.

    • 2

Clean the pumpkin out by cutting off the top and then reaching in and pulling out all the pulp and seeds.

    • 3

Separate the pulp from the seeds, and then rinse off the seeds. Don't salt or bake the seeds before grinding; you want them raw.

    • 4

Grind the seeds in your electric coffee grinder. You want them to be finely ground.

    • 5

Add from 1/4 to 1 teaspoon of the finely ground pumpkin seeds to your dog's food and mix it up, then feed it to your dog. You can tell how much to give your dog by his size. If, for example, he's a chihuahua, then you just give him 1/4 of a teaspoon. But if he is a German shepherd, then you'd give him 1 teaspoon. If your dog is a size in between, then 1/2 teaspoon would work.
