When your dog gets sick or injured, you want to make them feel better as soon as possible. Sometimes, though, the situation is beyond your control and a trip to the veterinarian's office is a must. But other times, your pup simply needs you to care for a cut or treat its digestive issues. You can sometimes restore your dog's health with the following list of herbal remedies.
-
Turmeric
-
Dogs cannot eat some of the same foods that their owners eat. But turmeric is one of the few herbs that you can safely feed to your pup. Sprinkle a little on its food to help treat inflamed joints.
Aloe
-
Aloe can be used as a topical poultice for burns and flea bites. Just dab a little on the wound and leave it. Your dog will appreciate its pain relief properties.
Chamomile
-
Your dog's eyes can sometimes get irritated, and when they do, use a chamomile tea bag. Steep a tea bag as if you were making a cup of tea. Then remove the bag and let it cool. After washing your hands, squeeze the excess water out of the bag. Place the bag over the irritated eye, or make two bags if both eyes are irritated.
Oregon Grape
-
An oil infusion with Oregon grape can be used to treat numerous ailments, such as ear mites and ear infections. Additionally, it can promote healing for minor cuts and insect bites.
Flaxseed
-
If your dog is constipated, purchasing food with flaxseed in it can help to clear out its system. Plus, the fatty acids in flaxseed will promote healthy claws and a shiny coat.
