How to Make a Powder for Dog Ticks

Dog ticks are common parasites that feed on a host's blood, whether that host is a pet or a human. They also pose the danger of lyme disease. Avoiding areas prone to ticks and wearing protective clothing will help prevent them. And since one way a tick identifies a suitable host is by scent, a powder heavy in garlic will help deter them.

Things You'll Need

  • 6 oz. garlic powder 1 oz. chili powder 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 mixing bowls Spoon Flour sifter Funnel Grated cheese dispenser with lid

Instructions

    • 1

Mix 6 oz. garlic, 1 oz. chili powder and 1 cup all-purpose flour.

    • 2

Pour the mixture into a flour sifter and sift into a new bowl.

    • 3

Using a funnel, pour the mixture into a grated cheese dispenser. Put the lid on the dispenser.

    • 4

Shake the mixture from the dispenser lightly into your hair, scalp line and on exposed skin before other areas of your body. For pets, apply the mixture to the outside coat and lightly run it into the undercoat. Do this weekly.
