Dogs are sensitive to the same environmental factors as humans, including unclean air, herbicides, insecticides, and preservatives and chemical additives in food. Veterinarians have clearly observed that golden retrievers and boxers are more susceptible to cancer than other breeds, but the reasons are not yet understood.
While home remedies for dogs with cancer may be helpful, please do not substitute these for quality veterinary care.

Cancer fighting diets tend to be low in carbohydrates and high in fats. To make your own, cook and drain 1 pound lean ground beef. Add 1.33 cups cooked rice, .33 pound cooked and diced beef liver, 4.5 tablespoons vegetable oil, 9 grams fish oil, 5 crushed antacid tablets with calcium, .33 teaspoon salt substitute and 1 crushed adult multivitamin. Mix the ingredients well, cover and refrigerate. A small dog should receive 1 fourth of this mixture daily. The amount may be adjusted for larger dogs.
