How to Kill Fleas Quickly

Fleas are not only a nuisance, but they can be dangerous to both pets and their human companions. If unchecked, fleas can infest a house and completely take over and can be hard to get rid of, and when swallowed by pets and humans, they can cause tape worms. Typically, for most areas of the country, fleas breed in the summer, making it the prime time for their attack. To kill fleas quickly, there are several techniques available to tackle the problem.

      Vacuum often, especially carpet and any area where pets might congregate. Dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag outside of the home, preferably each time you clean. Vacuum everyday because the incubation period of fleas is short.

      Wash pet bedding or anything infested with fleas in Borax and hot water and dry the items on high heat. Borax is toxic to fleas and the high heat will kill flea larva and eggs.

      Find a pesticide that's active ingredient is imidacloprid. This is toxic to flea and works within a couple of days. It's also the active ingredient in some pet flea drops. Apply flea drops regularly, especially during the summer months to your pets.

      For a safe, non-toxic and super fast way to kill fleas rent a professional steam cleaner. Clean the entire carpets and upholstery in the home with high steam. The heat will kill the fleas. Vacuum daily after the carpet dries.
