Types of Congestive Heart Failure

There are two types of congestive heart failure in dogs; left sided heart failure and right sided congestive heart failure.
Left Sided Congestive Heart Failure

If your dog is experiencing left sided congestive heart failure, he may show signs of rapid breathing, coughing and fainting. He may be less tolerant of exercise and have difficulty breathing.
Right Sided Congestive Heart Failure

Right sided congestive heart failure signs are swelling in the limbs, intolerance to exercise, coughing, difficulty breathing and swelling in the abdomen from fluid retention.
Signs of Chest Pain

Your dog may show signs of chest pain by stretching or craning her neck sideways. She may show drowsy eyes or be unconscious.
