- 13 to 15 mg/kg/day in 2 to 4 divided doses
- Reduce to 3 to 5 mg/kg/day if liver function improves

- 8 to 10 mg/kg/day in 2 or 3 doses
- May need up to 24 to 36 months for optimal effect; monitor with x-ray or ultrasound
Patient Information
- Take with meals
- May take 2 to 3 months for symptoms of biliary cirrhosis or biliary colic to improve
- Monitor liver function test for biliary cirrhosis
- Monitor liver function tests and liver ultrasound for stone dissolution
- Do not use if biliary obstruction or acute cholecystitis is present
