Your dog just ate a salicia gel packet?

Call the Pet Poison Helpline immediately at (855) 764-7661

Silica gel packets come with many household items, such as electronics and food packages. They protect contents from moisture damage.

Silica gel packets are mostly harmless to dogs if they consume one. They may experience mild signs of an upset stomach, such as vomiting or diarrhea. Your biggest concern should be if the dog tore open and ingested the silica gel beads inside the packet. Silica gel beads can cause intestinal blockage, which can be life-threatening.

Monitor your dog for any of the following symptoms for the next 12-24 hours:

- Vomiting

- Diarrhea

- Straining to defecate

- Abdominal pain

- Lethargy

- Loss of appetite

- If you notice any of these symptoms, take your dog to the vet immediately.
