Can a dog get sick and die from eating doo doo?

Dogs can become sick from eating feces (which contains harmful bacteria such as E.coli Salmonella) due to a weakened immune system or malnutrition; however, it typically does not kill a dog on its own unless there is underlying disease/illness in the dog; and the dog ingests the feces repeatedly over a certain span of time.
