1. Call the vet. The best person to advise you on what to do is a veterinarian. They can recommend based on the type of poison, the amount ingested, and the symptoms being displayed.
2. Induce vomiting if recommended. If the vet gives you the green light, you can induce vomiting by giving the dog a 5% hydrogen peroxide solution. Mix one teaspoon of the solution with one teaspoon of water and give it to the dog. Repeat every 15 minutes if necessary, but do not exceed three doses. This only applies to non-foaming poisons, so check with the vet first.
3. Prevent further ingestion. Keep the dog away from the poison and any other potential hazards.
4. Monitor the dog's condition. Watch for signs of distress such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and difficulty breathing.
5. Rush to the vet. If your dog's health begins to deteriorate rapidly, please take him to the vet immediately.
