Instructions

    • 1

Measure the circumference of your dog's neck. Add 2 inches to the length for adult dogs and 3 inches for younger dogs or puppies.

    • 2

Cut the nylon webbing and ribbon to the neck measurement, plus the additional length. Burn both ends of the webbing with a lighter to seal the webbing and keep it from fraying.

    • 3

Pin the ribbon to the top of the webbing. Sew the ribbon to the webbing on your sewing machine, using a straight stitch and strong nylon thread. Sew around all four sides of the ribbon to secure it to the webbing.

    • 4

Place a D-ring over one end of the collar. Feed the same end of the collar into one side of a plastic spring buckle. Fold the end of the collar under to secure the D-ring and buckle half. Sew the folded section down with the sewing machine.

    • 5

Feed the other end of the collar into the other end of the buckle. This end will not be sewn to allow for adjusting the size as your dog grows.

    • 6

Sew buttons or beads onto the collar to add a dash of whimsy. Secure tightly with beading thread. Place the collar on your dog's neck and adjust the size until your achieve a good fit.
