Things You'll Need
- Leather strips
- Dog collar attachment
- Wax thread
- Scissors
Instructions
Put two long strips of leather together so they are even. Be sure the strips are several feet long; the leash will shorten when you braid it.
Make a loop with the two strips of leather and bring them together again. The loop should be large enough for you to comfortable grip it. This is where you will hold the leash.
Attach the strips of leather at the base of the loop using wax thread. You should now have four even strips of leather hanging from the loop.
Put the first strip of leather over the second. Then, overlap the third over the second and the fourth all the way over the first.
Repeat the braiding process with the four strands, working from the back this time, overlapping the leather strips under each other, rather than over each other.
Continue braiding the leather strips until you reach the bottom. Leave enough to loop all four around the dog collar attachment. Secure with wax thread and trim the excess. The hook on the dog collar attachment will attach to the metal loop on your dog's collar.
