- Channel lock
- 1-1/4-inch PVC pipe, 10-foot section
- 1-1/4-inch PVC corner pieces, 4
- Canvas, 34-1/2-by-38-1/2 inches
- 1/2-inch round No. 8 washer head screws, 1 box
Instructions
Saw the PVC pipe into eight segments. Two segments should be 24 inches long, two should be 28 inches long and four should be four inches long.
Connect the 24-inch pieces, 28-inch pieces and corner pieces to form a rectangle.
Insert the four-inch pieces into the open holes of the corner pieces and tap them in with a hammer. These serve as the legs of the bed that hold it up off the ground.
Spread out the canvas cloth with the wrong side facing up. Make sure you are working on an even surface. Place the bed frame on top of the canvas with the legs pointing up.
Fold each corner of the canvas over so that it is still beneath the frame.
Fold over one side of the canvas by 1/2 inch two times. The canvas should reach the center of the bottom of the pipe. Affix the canvas with a screw in the middle of the pipe, making sure the screw penetrates both layers of the fabric. Add at least five more evenly-spaced screws through the fabric on the bottom of the pipe. Repeat these steps on the remaining sides.
Insert one screw in each inside corner of the frame. Tighten each screw with a channel lock to pull the canvas taut.
Drill two screws in the underside of each corner piece. One screw should go on each side of each leg but not into the sides of the legs. These screws will hold the legs firmly in place.
Flip the bed over so that it is standing up. Drill five screws over the top of the canvas and through the PVC at each corner to prevent the dog from chewing any fabric that would normally stick up.
