Things You'll Need
- Hatchet or maul handle
- Protective goggles
- Small saw
- Sander
- Sandpaper
- Work bench
Instructions
Place all of your materials on your work table. Put on protective goggles before sawing the handle.
Saw the small end of the handle so that it is even and straight across. A small hand or band saw works well for this purpose.
Sand the end of the breaking stick where you made the first cut so that you create a narrow tip that can be inserted between your dog's teeth. It should be most narrow at the end and gradually become thicker as you travel up the handle.
Sand this end so that it is round and there are no sharp edges. You don't want to injure your dog when you insert the stick in his mouth, but it needs to be small enough to fit between its jaws.
